TOM · VIOLENT MIRROR
Automotive Photography & Visual Storytelling

Exceptional vehicles are defined by more than their shape. Light, materials, surfaces, details and traces of use all contribute to their character.
TOM, founder of Violent Mirror, approaches automotive photography with precisely this perspective. His work focuses on historic vehicles, Porsche, Hot Rods and distinctive automotive projects – capturing not only the vehicle itself, but also the atmosphere and details that make its story visible.
Rather than relying on artificial staging, his photography is shaped by observation, perspective and the moments that happen naturally between people, machines and their surroundings.
Exceptional Vehicles. Historic Surfaces. Trusted Relationships.
Automotive Photography with Character
A historic vehicle is more than bodywork, paint and mechanical components. Its identity can be found in the details: light moving across an aged paint surface, a reflection in chrome, traces of mechanical work, materials that have changed over decades or a brief moment between owner and automobile.
TOM's photography concentrates on these elements.
His images combine the overall presence of a vehicle with close observation of surfaces, materials and details. The result is automotive photography that does not attempt to make history appear perfect.
It allows history to remain visible.
This approach is particularly relevant when documenting classic Porsche, Pre-War automobiles, Historic Racing Cars and other vehicles whose character depends as much on their surfaces and details as on their design.
Automotive Photography & Visual Storytelling

More Than Vehicle Documentation
A special automobile already has a story. Strong automotive photography should not replace that story with an artificial one.
It should reveal it.
TOM therefore documents more than complete vehicles. Paint surfaces, interiors, mechanical details, traces of use, surroundings and people become elements of a wider visual narrative.
This creates photographs that can function on several levels: as documentation of a finished automotive project, as editorial imagery and as an enduring visual record of a particular vehicle at a particular moment in its history.
For JackSeven Fine Patina Art, this distinction is important. Historic automotive surfaces often communicate through subtle differences in texture, reflection, wear and materiality. Photography has to recognise those differences before it can communicate them.
Violent Mirror × JackSeven Fine Patina Art
JackSeven Fine Patina Art and Violent Mirror share a fascination with vehicles that possess character.
Where JackSeven works with historic automotive finishes, surface texture, tactile character and historically credible ageing, TOM translates these qualities into photography.
The collaboration has developed through selected JackSeven projects, with TOM documenting vehicles, surfaces, people and details through his own distinctive visual language. His photography has become more than project documentation: it forms part of JackSeven's visual communication and supports the presentation of selected work within editorial and international automotive contexts.
Historic Surfaces Through the Lens
Photographing a historic or individually developed automotive surface requires a different approach from photographing a conventional high-gloss restoration.
Texture can disappear under the wrong light. Subtle paint wear can become exaggerated. Surface depth, material transitions and traces of age can easily be lost.
The objective is therefore not simply to produce a dramatic photograph.
It is to communicate the character of the vehicle and the credibility of its surface.
This shared attention to detail is one of the foundations of the collaboration between Violent Mirror and JackSeven Fine Patina Art.
Porsche · Historic Vehicles · Automotive Culture
TOM's photography accompanies selected vehicles from the wider JackSeven world – from classic Porsche and historic automobiles to Hot Rods, American cars and automotive events.
One particularly important example is the 1962 Porsche 356 Super 90 in Oslo Blue. TOM's photography documents not only the completed vehicle, but also the subtle surface character and details of its individually developed historic finish. The German project page already credits TOM specifically for photographing this Porsche and describes the collaboration as extending beyond a single photoshoot.
His photography has also accompanied the JackSeven Chevrolet Caprice at the HEIZR Recycling Club event in Plochingen, where the vehicle's surface, details and surrounding automotive culture became part of the visual narrative.
Selected Photographic Collaborations

Two Perspectives. One Shared Philosophy.
JackSeven develops automotive surfaces with history.
Violent Mirror makes their character visible.
One works through materials, paint, texture and tactile surfaces. The other works through light, perspective, atmosphere and the decisive moment.
The disciplines are different. The underlying principle is remarkably similar:
Look closely. Understand the vehicle. Respect its character.
That shared approach is what makes the collaboration between Violent Mirror and JackSeven Fine Patina Art particularly valuable.
Beyond Full-Scale Automotive Photography
Photography is not the only connection between TOM and historic surfaces.
His attention to ageing, material behaviour and small details also extends to individually finished model vehicles. Working on a much smaller scale, he develops detailed aged surfaces that reflect the same fundamental question encountered with full-size vehicles:
Where would a vehicle age – and why?
This shared interest in credible surface character creates another connection between Violent Mirror and JackSeven, while each retains a clearly independent visual and handcrafted signature.
Visual Stories for Exceptional Vehicles
For collectors, restorers and owners of significant automobiles, professional photography can become part of the vehicle's documentation and history.
Selected JackSeven projects photographed by TOM / Violent Mirror demonstrate how automotive photography can communicate more than appearance alone – capturing materials, atmosphere, surface character and the relationship between people and their vehicles.
