JackSeven Fine Patina Art – Historic Automotive Surfaces with Character
Handcrafted in Germany · Working with Collectors, Restorers and Automotive Enthusiasts Worldwide
THE BRAND WITH SOUL.

Sven Freund – Founder of JackSeven Fine Patina Art
JackSeven Fine Patina Art was founded by Sven Freund in Friedberg, Bavaria, Germany.

His approach is shaped by more than four decades of experience with vehicles, craftsmanship, bodywork, paint surfaces, classic cars and automotive culture.

Trained in automotive mechanics and coachbuilding, and complemented by a background in marketing, Sven combines technical understanding with a deep interest in how historic vehicles, materials and surfaces change over time.

Today, this experience forms the foundation of JackSeven Fine Patina Art – specialising in handcrafted historic automotive finishes, authentic vehicle surfaces, bespoke patina concepts and historically informed surface interpretation for exceptional vehicles.

The objective is not simply to make a vehicle look old.

It is to create – or preserve – a surface that belongs to its history.

A Lifelong Fascination with Automotive History
Long before JackSeven existed, the fascination was already there.

Not only for perfectly restored vehicles, but for the details that reveal how a car or motorcycle has actually lived: faded paint, worn edges, earlier repairs, exposed layers and surfaces shaped by decades of use.

These traces can reveal something a flawless restoration sometimes removes – history.

That fascination eventually became one of the guiding principles behind JackSeven Fine Patina Art:
Understand the vehicle before changing its surface.

More Than 40 Years of Automotive Experience
Automotive Mechanics
Technical understanding provides the foundation. A historic vehicle is not simply a surface – it is a mechanical object whose construction, use and history influence how it should appear.

Coachbuilding & Bodywork
Experience with automotive bodies, materials and construction provides an understanding of how metal, repairs, modifications and previous interventions become part of a vehicle's visual history.

Historic Paint & Surface Knowledge
Decades of experience with automotive finishes have developed an understanding of colour, layers, texture, wear and the way paint responds to sunlight, weather, heat and use.

Marketing & Brand Communication
A background in marketing adds another perspective: understanding how design, visual identity, history and storytelling shape the perception of exceptional vehicles and brands.

Patina as Automotive History
Patina is not simply rust, scratches or faded paint.

Genuine patina can document time, use, climate, repairs and human interaction.

A worn edge may reveal decades of use. A different colour beneath a surface can indicate an earlier repair. Fading may reflect years of exposure to sunlight.

These details form part of a vehicle's material history.

Patina is time made visible.
Preserving History. Creating Character.
Original Paint & Historic Surfaces
When a significant historic vehicle retains original paint or historically valuable surface material, preservation should always be considered before replacement.

Original surfaces can contain evidence of manufacturing methods, historic coatings, repairs and decades of use.
JackSeven therefore approaches surviving historic material with respect for its documentary value.

→ Original Paint Preservation & Historical Paint Reconstruction

Bespoke Historic Finishes

Other vehicles have already lost their original surfaces through restoration, repair or repainting.
Here, a different approach becomes possible.

JackSeven develops individually conceived historic automotive finishes inspired by the way real vehicles age.
Colour variation, paint layers, texture, wear and traces of use are developed around the specific vehicle and its intended history.

Not generic ageing. Not theatrical damage. A credible surface narrative.

Roots in Hot Rod Culture
Hot Rod culture remains an important part of the JackSeven story.

Its combination of craftsmanship, individuality, mechanical creativity and respect for traditional automotive culture has influenced Sven Freund's approach for decades.

As Press Officer of the GSRA – German Street Rod Association, Sven remains closely connected to the German and European Hot Rod community.

This heritage continues to influence selected JackSeven projects today.

Pre-War Automobiles – Respect for Historic Substance
Pre-War vehicles demand a different level of consideration.

Their materials, construction methods, paint systems and craftsmanship belong to another era. Any intervention therefore needs to respect not only appearance, but historical substance.

Before developing a surface concept, the vehicle's history, period, intended use and existing material are considered.
Whether preserving surviving historic paint or developing a carefully researched new surface:
The vehicle must retain its dignity.

Porsche – Historic Finishes Beyond Perfection
Porsche represents another important field within JackSeven Fine Patina Art.

From the restrained simplicity of the Porsche 356 to Historic Racing and competition-inspired Porsche projects, each vehicle requires its own visual language.

A credible Porsche surface may reference decades of road use, surviving original paint, historic competition, stone impacts, repairs or carefully developed period character.

The objective remains restraint:
The surface should belong to the Porsche – not compete with it.

Historical Paint Reconstruction & Original Paint Preservation
Some historic vehicles require more than visual interpretation.

Where significant original coatings survive, questions of paint composition, layer structure, colour, historic materials and previous interventions can become essential.

JackSeven is developing this field as a specialist competence alongside bespoke historic finishes – particularly for significant Pre-War automobiles and collector vehicles where preservation of original substance takes priority over cosmetic perfection.

Preservation begins with understanding what already exists.
